Marrokal Design & Remodeling has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence by earning the National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s (NARI) 2025 Regional Remodeler of the Year (RotY) Award for Region 7: Southwest, in the Residential Kitchen $100,000 to $150,000 category.
The project involved transforming a dated kitchen and family room into a cohesive, modern space that seamlessly integrates with the home’s outdoor pool and BBQ area. The original layout featured old cherry cabinets and worn tile floors, limiting functionality and aesthetic appeal. To address these issues, the design team implemented several strategic changes:
- Optimized Appliance Placement: By relocating the oven into a new range and positioning the microwave within the island, valuable counter space was freed up, resulting in a more open and efficient kitchen layout.
- Unified Design Elements: Large appliances were paneled to ensure a cohesive look, and cabinetry was extended into the family room. This extension not only added storage but also carried the serene wood theme throughout both spaces.
- Enhanced Storage Solutions: The introduction of deep, functional drawers in the kitchen alleviated clutter, while the new island design provided ample storage and served as a practical drop-off zone for the family.
- Modernized Aesthetics: Light gray countertops harmoniously blended with shaker-style cabinets, and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring in complementary hues created a tranquil environment. Decorative floating shelves and concealed speakers in the entertainment area added to the contemporary feel.
