It’s the goal of every homeowner, a house that is both beautiful and easy to maintain. Finding that look can be challenging with so many options available.
Real wood floors have long been the standard of beauty in homes but, they can be delicate and hard to maintain. If you have kids and pets, wood floors might make you a bit nervous that they’ll get damaged.
Comfort, beauty, and highly durable flooring allows you to relax and know that the floor you’ve chosen will look good not only year round but also in the decades to come.
That’s where Wood Look Tile makes its grand entrance.
The tile has the look of real wood but is more durable, affordable, and easier to maintain because it’s made of porcelain, ceramic, or concrete.
The Wood Look Tile is becoming more popular for flooring and also walls in bathrooms and kitchens because it withstands water so well.
The Wood Look Tile comes in different patterns and sizes and looks especially good when an inkjet has been used to create different pattern variations in a single color.
The sizes range from very short to long planks. Generally, the longer the plank tiles (40 inches to 48 inches) the more it looks like real wood. Rotating the orientation of the tiles during installation will give the floor an interesting pattern and make it look more like a real wood floor. The shorter Wood Look Tile (24 inches to 30 inches) can be used in a herringbone pattern.
You can have very narrow grout lines if you use Wood Look Tile that has a rectified edge. That just means the edge of the tile is smoother and more exact than a pressed edge which is more jagged. Also, if you use a darker shade of grout than the darkest color in you tile it will help make the floor look more natural because it looks like shadows around the tile plank rather than actually grout.
