The homeowners wanted to remodel their Del Mar home for many years. Now, their dream home is a reality and Marrokal Design & Remodeling is honored to have completed the home remodel project.
The existing kitchen was small, outdated, and had poor circulation between the adjacent rooms. An overhaul was desperately needed. The Del Mar home had so much potential to create a beautiful and functioning space.
Here’s how we transformed it.
We removed the existing wall between the kitchen and the front sitting area to open up the space. This made the kitchen open, functional, and an inviting area. Modern materials were added to update the look of the space. A mix of textures creates a warm and beautiful environment.
The new kitchen island commands attention with its waterfall edges and quartz countertop that resemble Calacatta Marble. Its creamy white color and dramatic veining in warm gray tones give the kitchen a distinctly modern and luxurious look.
We missed black shaker cabinets with modern slab cabinetry that reveal a textured wood grain. This juxtaposition offers a unique mix of materials and gives the kitchen textural interest.
The expansive custom hood is a visual anchor that adds a rustic appeal with its shiplap and knotty alder trim.
Floating shelves in matching knotty alder also add warmth and contrast to a subway style backsplash that brings an old-world feel to the kitchen.
Wood flooring in Smoked French Oak was installed throughout the entire first floor and gives the space depth and warmth to balance the contrast of white.
Finishing touches of brass hardware, a barn door to the pantry, and geometric light fixtures complete this unique kitchen while balancing a careful blend of modern style and warm rustic touches.
