How to Create the Perfect Spa-Like Bathroom

Just about everyone enjoys a pampering day at the spa. Now, imagine if you could have that relaxation and peace without ever leaving your home in a spa-like bathroom. You can!

As Valentine’s Day approaches, two decisions often come up: where to go for that gourmet meal and which spa to go to for deep relaxation. Now, imagine, instead, staying in and having a spa-like bathroom to enjoy those special holidays — if that sparks an interest, then maybe it’s time to create that dreamy bathroom.

How To Create the Perfect Spa-Like Bathroom

If you are considering a bathroom remodel Marrokal Design & Remodeling can help. Learn how you can turn an ordinary bathroom into the perfect spa-like bathroom by remodeling your existing space or using room addition remodeling to create something new and perfect.

Separate the Tub from the Rest of the Bathroom

The objective is to make your bathroom feel less ordinary and more like an extraordinary spa. One area to start with is the tub. Think stand-alone tub – doesn’t that just make you envision a spa? The tub doesn’t need to be in its own separate room. Instead, placing the tub in an arched space can create its own ceiling or you can use a temporary or permanent divider like one made of natural stone or glass blocks to separate the tub from the rest of the bathroom.

For a stand-alone tub, you will want to make sure that you have enough space. Not only do you need at least 4″ of space between your tub and the bathroom wall on all sides but also you may want a sitting area so the bathroom feels spacious and more like a spa.

If your existing bathroom isn’t big enough, when you meet with our team, we can show you creative ideas including room additions to create a more spacious spa-like bathroom.

Invest in a Hot Tub

The spa experience wouldn’t be complete without a hot tub. The jets of warm water create a soothing massaging experience, while the bubbles disperse the scents that you add to the bathwater. Hot tubs come in all shapes, sizes, and configurations, so it usually is best to visit our showroom so we can give you some ideas.

Make Space for Candles and Visual Elements

You can enhance the home spa experience by including space for lining up and lighting candles or incense. Dimmable lights and hidden speakers can also help set the mood. If you have a smart-home setup, you can create a preset so that the lights gradually dim, while your choice of relaxing music plays on the speakers.

You can also add visual elements such as potted plants, bamboo partitions, or wood paneling to further simulate the spa experience. Lighting can make all the difference in your spa bathroom. Set a tone with softs lights or chandeliers.

Heated Floors

Another great spa-like addition is heated floors. Nothing worse than getting out of the tub and stepping on cold floors.

Radiant heat systems are highly economical. They are installed under the floor, heat very thoroughly, and use less energy to warm the room. The heat starts from the ground up – less heat is up toward the ceiling and instead down where you are, keeping you more comfortable, and using the heat more efficiently. You will likely be able to set the heat lower by about six to eight degrees.

Whatever design elements you end up choosing, work with an experienced bathroom remodeler to ensure the best results.
